Irene Handley
Irene M. Handley, 81, passed away on Saturday morning, February 9, 2008 at Sheridan Memorial Nursing
Home in Plentywood, Montana. A funeral service will be held at a later time. Cremation has taken place.
Irene was born on August 2, 1926 in Belcourt, North Dakota. She was a daughter of Alfred and Ernestine
(Longie) Jeannotte. Irene grew up and attended school in the Belcourt area until she moved to Medicine
Lake with her family at the age of 15. She married James Moran in 1945 and they lived in Medicine Lake
where they had four sons. Irene and James were later divorced.
Irene moved to Glasgow, Montana where she married Marcus Handley in 1957. They were married in
Seattle, but made their home fifty miles south of Glasgow where they farmed and ranched.
She loved to go out to eat and shop and was a very witty woman who enjoyed socializing with family and
friends.
In August of 2007, she decided to move to Plentywood, so she could be closer to her sisters Janice and
Carol. Irene lived at LaCasa until December of 2007 when she suffered a stroke and moved to Sheridan
Memorial Nursing Home. The family wishes to thank the people at LaCasa, Sheridan Memorial Nursing
Home and Hospital for taking such good care of her.
Irene is survived by two of her sons: Larry Moran and his wife Ruth of Glasgow, Montana and Michael Moran and his wife Carol of Virginia. She is
also survived by six of her siblings: brothers George of Medford, Oregon, Al of San Antonio, Texas, sister Helen Day/Jim Jakubowski of Seattle,
Washington, brother Bill and Carolyn Bachtold of Glasgow, Montana, sister Janice Hodges of Medicine Lake, Montana and sister Carol Olson/Rocky
Nyby of Dagmar, Montana. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marcus, two of her sons, James Moran, Jr. and DuWayne Moran; her brothers Henry "Blue"
and Fran and a sister Rena.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge of arrangements. A notice will appear to announce her funeral, later in February.
