Carla Knudson

Funeral services for Carla Knudson will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 28, 2008. Pastor
Chansy Charles will officiate at the service at the Plentywood Lutheran Church; interment will
be in the Scobey City Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Joey Chandler, Truman Hackmann,
Darrin and Rocky Nelson, Alan Nordhagen, and Jerry Wood; ushers will be Susie Morstad and
Grace McClymont. Carla, 49, died of cancer just before noon Wednesday, January 23 at
Billings Clinic.

Carla was born September 7, 1958 at Scobey, third of ten children of Vernon and Carol
(Hackmann) Fester. The family lived in several communities in northeastern Montana and in
Iowa before settling in Plentywood. Carla attended school in Scobey and in Plentywood
through the 8th grade. She was baptized at the Scobey Lutheran Church. Carla began working
as a housekeeper, first at the Plains Motel in Plentywood. She later lived for a few years near
Weyburn, Saskatchewan, then returned to Plentywood, where she has lived since.

Always fun-loving and ready for anything, Carla always thought of others’ needs before her
own. She loved Christmas giving, and lived the idea that “it’s the thought that counts” – she
remembered everyone, with something.

She loved to cook (and created some adventures along the way!) And visits to her home always involved a feast and a game of 6-5-4. She
lived on thetelephone, calling friends and family on what seemed like a definite schedule; and would visit for hours if she had a chance. A
practical jokester, people were never sure whether she enjoyed it more when she tricked others, or when they tricked her!

Carla is survived by five children: Trisha and her husband Pat Greff, of Redstone; Shane and his wife Stefanie Kelly, of Plentywood; Sara
Tombre, of Glendive, Montana; and a daughter and a son. She is also survived by 7 of her 8 siblings: Vernon Fester, Jr, who lives in
Idaho; Rick, Allen, and Raymond Fester, all of Miles City; Marla and her husband Alan Nordhagen, of Westby; Brenda Howell, of White
Sulphur Springs, Montana; and Sandie Fester and her fiancee Truman Hackmann, of Plentywood.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Ron and Jerry. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of
arrangements.
