Rudolph was born September 2, 1915 on the family homestead near Dagmar, a son of Peter
and Petra (Nyby) Lodahl.  He attended school at Roosevelt and Whittier Schools and began
farming for his uncle in about 1930-31.  He also worked for his father for several years before
buying his own place.

On October 25, 1956 Rudolph married Vallie Andersen and they made their home in Dagmar.  Vallie passed away in 1997.

Rudolph loved farming and taking care of his cattle, taking extra special care of them.  He would sometimes keep the cattle penned near the barn
until May, before turning them out to pasture because he was afraid a late winter storm might come and harm some of them.

He loved spending time in the outdoors, hunting ducks and pheasants.  He generally loved animals and would feed deer through the tough winter
months.  Rudolph had two special cats, Bunny and Spot, who were his pets for seventeen years.

He liked to visit with people and watch television and enjoyed reading newspaper articles, especially about children and animals.

He stayed on his farm as long as his health permitted and then found it necessary to move to the Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home where he
received excellent care.  The people at the nursing home became his family.

Rudolph is survived by his step grandchildren: Cathy Ritz, Carol Honensee, Mike Dean and their families.  Also surviving are several cousins and
numerous friends in the Dagmar community.

He is preceded in death by his wife Vallie, his parents, two brothers Arne and Anker Lodahl and a step daughter Verna Mae Chapman.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood was in charge of arrangements.
