1954. He grew up on the family farm in the Dooley community, was baptized at Nathanael Lutheran
Church at Dagmar in 1954, and confirmed at Plentywood Lutheran Church in 1969. He was active in

Russell played on a golf team with his brother Craig, Lance Chandler, and John Kemp, Jr. For over 20
years, and he loved to play in regional tournaments, where he was often "in the money." He was active in
the local Dart and Pool leagues. Russell lived by his own rules and according to his own schedule and
simply enjoyed spending time with his friends. Always kindhearted, he would do anything to help other
people, (memorably, he noticed that a bachelor neighbor didn't have any food in the house one day ... so
Russell left his own lunch for him) He was thoughtful and sharing with his nephew and nieces.
