Myrtle Klofstad

Funeral Services for Myrtle Klofstad will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday April 30. Pastor David Curtright will officiate at the service at
Plentywood Lutheran Church; interment will be in Plentywood Memorial Cemetery. Myrtle passed away at Sheridan Memorial
Hospital April 26, 2007. She was 91.

Myrtle was born September 12, 1915, on "The Farm" three miles north of Plentywood. She was the third child of Norwegian
immigrants Lars and Guri (Aarhus) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in Plentywood Lutheran Church and lived her
entire life in Sheridan County. As a first grader she spoke and understood only the Norwegian language. She graduated from
Plentywood High School in 1933, in the midst of the Depression. Following graduation she worked in Plentywood at Deck's Café
and The Dime Store. The wall of memorable photos at Cousins Café pictures Myrtle as a waitress at Deck's.

Myrtle loved to dance. She met her husband to be, Einar, at a dance at the Nickerson Barn near Outlook. Einar often commented
"She talked all the time we were dancing and has still not stopped". Their opportunity for marriage came in 1936 after Einar got a
teaching job at Gibson School, north of Raymond, just a mile from the border. They made their home for several years in an 8 by
13 foot teacherage attached to the side of the school. But, it was the Depression and they had a steady pay check. Myrtle taught
many of the young girls to crochet.

In 1942, they moved to Box Elder Street in Plentywood, a great neighborhood to raise two boys. Myrtle was a homemaker. She
loved to bake. They enjoyed outings and card parties with friends such as the Willards, Janssens and Simonis. Einar began
working for Woodward's clothing store (later called Anthony's). They moved to Jefferson Street and lived there for 50 years. Myrtle
worked part time at "The Store". She often remarked that she did not earn much money but she got to sleep with the boss.

She looked forward to visits from family and trips to see her children and their families. She was active in WELCA circles and
Eastern Star. She loved crafts. In addition to her life long passion for crocheting she tried Hardanger, painting and bead crafts.
She collected Depression Glass and Roseville Pottery. A real thrill was going to garage sales looking for bargains. She was an
avid reader. When her eyesight failed she turned to books-on-tape. She consumed most of the appropriate titles at the Library.
Loss of her eyesight and declining health sapped her spirit and she spent the final three years of her life at the Nursing Home.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Einar, and by two sons and their families: Gary and his wife Barbara of
Wausau, Wisconsin; and Glenn and his wife Char of Missoula. Her grandchildren are Kari Hazen and her husband Tim of
Bloomington, Illinois and their daughters (Myrtle's great granddaughters) Zoe and Mia; Eric Klofstad and his wife Ana of Prairie du
Chien, Wisconsin; Casey Klofstad of Miami, Florida; Kristi Klofstad of Seattle, Washington; and Jason Klofstad and his wife Judy
of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by 4 sisters-in-law, Irene Johnson, Dorothy Johnson and Betty Johnson of
Plentywood and Bette Johnson of Jordan. Myrtle’s special friend Ginny Larson  will sorely miss  "Missy K.".  Myrtle was preceded
in death by her parents, an infant son, Randal, and all of her siblings, Garnet Brekus, Elmer, Rudy, Melvin, Al and Les Johnson.

Audrey Solberg

Memorial Services for Audrey Solberg will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 4. Pastor David C. Curtright will officiate at the
service at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Plentywood; interment of cremated remains in Ebenezer Cemetery, east of Antelope,
Montana will take place later in the spring.  Audrey, 79, died Thursday evening, March 29 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Audrey, the youngest of 6 children of Albert and Alma (Berg) Lindquist, was born on the family farm east of Antelope July 16, 1927.
Raised on the family farm, she attended the Monroe School, graduated from Antelope High School in 1945, and graduated from
the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Havre as a Registered Nurse in 1948. She married James Reynolds in Havre in March,
1950, but pursued her nursing career in many places as they moved with his work. She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in
Williston, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow as Obstetrics Supervisor, worked in O-B at St. James’ Hospital in
Butte; then in Glendive, first at N.P. Hospital and then as Nursing Supervisor in the Medical, Post-Surgical, Pediatric and O-B
departments at Dawson County Hospital. In 1966 she and Mr. Reynolds moved to Illinois, where she worked in the Silver Cross
Hospital in Joliet until his death in 1970. That fall she moved back to Montana to work in Sidney until she married Chester
Solberg April 20, 1971 in Billings.  In 1972 they moved to Townsend, and Audrey took classes at Montana State University in
Bozeman to earn a Nursing Home Administrator’s License, then worked at the Broadwater County Rest Home until she retired in
1989. Mr. Solberg died in March,  1994; and as her health began to fail in 1998, Audrey moved back “home” to Plentywood.

Audrey enjoyed her life, and found that she was equally happy wherever she went – although she missed the prairie sunsets
while she was living in western Montana. She found great joy in helping people recover from severe illness and injury throughout
her nursing career; and said that even the bad experiences “taught good lessons!” She belonged to the United Methodist Church
in Townsend, was a 50-year member of the Friendship Chapter #68 of the Order of Eastern Star in Williston; and  loved baking,
especially bread, buns, and sweetbreads of various kinds. One of the nurses caring for her in the last month related that she was
“one of the least demanding patients she ever had.” A quiet, gentle, caring person, Audrey related that her only regret was that
she never traveled much –and would have liked to visit Arizona!

Audrey is survived by two step-daughters, Bunky, Mrs. Larry Wirtz, of Outlook, and Lonna Knoll, of Missoula; and by numerous
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Allan Lindquist, of Plentywood, and a sister, Lila
Kleppen, of rural Plentywood. She was very close to her nephews, nieces, and their families. Besides her parents and
husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cedric Lindquist, and two sisters, Grace Haugen and Eunice Kleppen.
Fulkerson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
