Elmer Falk

Elmer Walter Falk passed away November 28, 2007, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
He was 96 and ready to join his wife. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 4, at
Plentywood Lutheran Church. Pastor David C. Curtright will officiate; interment of cremated remains will be
in Plentywood Memorial Cemetery.

Born in Stanley, ND, March 17, 1911, to Theodore and Bertha (Hueth) Falk, Elmer was an only child.
During his early years, they lived on the homestead west of Reserve.  Most of his schooling was received in
Medicine Lake, however, he attended schools all over the county.  While in Medicine Lake, he met Agnes
Brien, and they were married April 11, 1931.  In 1934 they moved to Kenmare, ND, and he worked in the
coal mines, laundry, and feed mill.  They were the parents of 4 children - Eugene, Duane, Bertha
(Anderson),  and Larry.  In 1944 they moved to Dooley where he managed the elevators until 1960.  He also
farmed and ranched while in Dooley.

He had a passion for horses.  Around 1967 he started bringing his Shetland ponies to town to give rides in his homemade sleigh in the winter.
That started his interest in building buggies, which he sold to collectors.  He enjoyed going on wagon trains and trail rides, and visiting with all the
"old-timers", telling and comparing stories.  He enjoyed telling stories about his younger years, and how they struggled to make ends meet.

In 1973, they retired from farming and ranching and moved to Plentywood.         After retiring, Elmer needed a hobby - that's when he started
collecting western memorabilia of all sorts, brass bells, and working with leather.  He made spurs, harnesses and restored saddles.

Elmer was a devoted husband to Agnes after she had a stroke in 1988.  He was at her side daily, and when the Nursing Home needed help,
Elmer stepped right in, cutting hair and helping with the other residents.

In their younger days, Elmer and Agnes enjoyed going to dances and traveling around the United States and Mexico.  He was a member of the
Moose Lodge and the Saddle Club. Elmer lived by himself in his home until 2005 when he moved to the Pioneer Manor.  He enjoyed playing
cards and going to Four Bears on the senior citizens' bus with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes, 2 sons, Duane and Eugene, 1 daughter-in-law Carol Falk, 1 grandson Scott Falk, and 1 great-great
granddaughter Krystyle Lantz.

He is survived by 2 children, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren:  Bertha (Roger)Anderson of Plentywood
and their children Debra (Larry) Miller of Elkview, West Virginia, and her son Duston Lantz and his son Anthony of Williston, North Dakota; Dixie

I will always remember Elmer - as a young boy in the 50's.  I will always remember Elmer throwing full bag of feed up
over the side of my dads truck. I couldn't even pick up the bag let alone throw it in the truck. He was a big - big guy  -  left a
impression on me that I have never forgot.  Duane Christensen.

I will always remember the tall gentle  man that Debbie Miller,(my sister-in-law) introduced us to. I could see why Debbie
admired him so much and will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
